Target Risks:

1. Conventional Travel Trailer

  • Towed on units own chassis by towing unit's frame hitch
  • May offer 1-4 slide outs
  • Often have built-in stalls or garages for hauling animals or recreational vehicles (ATV, motorcycle, etc)

2. Fifth Wheel Travel Trailer

  • Towed on fifth-wheel hitch located in truck bed
  • Tend to be roomiest of the units, some offer up to 5 slide outs  primarily used by beginner campers

3. Pop-Up Travel Trailer

  • Collapsible sides
  • Newer units may have 1 slide out
  • Primarily used by beginner campers

General Underwriting Guidelines:

  • All operators must be identified on the application regardless of the amount of use.
  • Registered owner (s) must be listed as the named insured on the application.
  • All operators must have a valid auto license.
  • If we cannot obtain a MVR on any operator, the risk is ineligible for coverage.

Ineligible Risks
  • Permanently parked Travel Trailers used seasonally should be written on a manufactured home policy.
  •  Any operator that has had any major violation in the past three (3) years. 
  • Any operator that has had a license suspension or revocation in the past three (3) years. 
  • Any operator that has had more than three (3) minor violations in the past three (3) years. 
  • Any operator that has had more than one (1) at-fault accident in the past three (3) years. 
  • Any operator that has had more than two (2) minor violations and more than one (1) at-fault accident in the past three (3) years. 
  • If the principal operator is not twenty-six (26) years or older. 
  • If any operators do not have a driverís license.
  •  If the travel trailer has unrepaired damage. 
  • If the travel trailer is used for business or is registered in a business name. 
  • If the travel trailer is rented or loaned to others. 
  • If the applicant is not an individual. 
  • If the travel trailer does not meet the definition described on Page 1. 
  • If the travel trailer is parked on a commercial site (example: construction site). 
  • If the travel trailer is owned by two (2) or more individuals who do not reside in the same household
