I have found that as I get older, the more I like to stay in my comfort zone. My sister Jinny on the other hand has made it pretty clear she is not finished having “adventures”! She recently got me back on my road bike and I have to say I have enjoyed riding immensely. We have a standing ride on Friday mornings and it is magical to ride in the Laurel Highlands on rural roads with next to no vehicular traffic. I don’t think I would have been motivated to do this if it weren’t for her ‘just do it’ attitude!

I am (have always been) in awe of Jinny. She thinks outside the box and isn’t afraid to jump into the deep end of things! Give her an opportunity and she would be going down class 5 rapids, paragliding in the Swiss Mountains, or riding her bicycle across Iowa – wait, what, Iowa?

Next week, Jinny and several of her bike friends are heading to Western Iowa where they will bike their way across the state in an annual ride called RAGBRAI: 460 miles, 7 days of riding, 7 nights of camping, all with 15,000 other cyclists. No, she did not invite me because she knows I’m not a joiner. 

So how would you describe yourself?  Are you a creature of habit or do you look for new opportunities?
