Big Announcement

Newsletter – Friday, August 14, 2009
Gosh, it is so good to be back in my seat (I didn’t say driver seat) here at the office. It should be no surprise to me or to anyone else that things ran really well while I was away. Some in fact would claim they ran smoother! Of course, part of my job is to ‘stir the pot!’ We really have a great team of people here at Tuscano and maybe that is one of the side effects of going away. When I returned, I appreciated everything that much more.

In fact, I had two very nice confirmations of this from my staff. I guess I have to leave names out, but one of our underwriters wrote me on the occasion of an anniversary recently celebrated, “It has been an incredible ride from only knowing how to write out a check to pay for my insurance to where I am today...oh my! The job is ever changing but I know why we are successful here...especially in this brutal market today!”

I received another thoughtful note from a young employee, “I thought I would mention the quality of people you surround yourself with … is exceptional. Every day I am reminded what amazing people I am honored to be surrounded with - from the little things they do in their daily business to the outreaching they do for others.”

Now you tell me – how could I stay away?

I know you are waiting for the Big Announcement, so here it is. We have just signed a contract with a major national trucking carrier, Carolina Casualty Insurance Company. As I write this, we are finishing our training on their programs and systems so I expect you should be able to send us your long haul business … today! If you don’t handle the trucking business in your office make sure you pass this information along to the folks who do. Tuscano now has the facilities to write any kind of truck account that comes your way.

I know that you have choices about where you take your truck business or any of your business for that matter. I believe I can make a darn good case for coming to Tuscano. We have talented underwriters who believe in customer service. We deal with financially solid carriers who intend to be in the market for the long-term. We make ease of doing business a top priority, and I would even go as far as saying putting your business with Tuscano will create value and save you money!

Let me leave you with some thoughts about the current debate over health care. Instead of focusing on who pays, we should be demanding better value for our healthcare dollars. The healthcare industry profits, but Americans are being sold a bill of goods when it comes to our healthcare priorities. You and I don’t want the government to be in the healthcare business, but I do expect that in the 21st century, Americans should expect and receive the quality of care that is routine for other developed nations at much less cost. What do you think?
