August 16th, 2023

Last weekend, we enjoyed our 4th annual Tuscano Summit. Once a year, we bring our entire team together to celebrate our successes and enjoy each other’s company for a weekend. It’s a great opportunity to spend time with folks that you don’t regularly get to see face-to-face. We have numerous employees that work remotely full-time, and some of them traveled a great distance to be with us. This year’s event was held at the Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh, and we closed the office at noon on Friday so we could meet there for an evening of food, fun, and fellowship. There may even have been some gambling!

Saturday, we had lots of fun activities on offer. There was boating on the river, visits to various museums, and all kinds of different tours to choose from. There was even a biking tour to various local breweries. If you know me, you know that bikes and beers are both subjects that I’m passionate about, so I’m sure you can guess what I did! Having grown up around Pittsburgh, I wasn’t expecting to learn anything, but our guide was great and taught us a little local history and even some fun architectural facts. Pittsburgh is an amazing city, and if you were ever considering a visit, I’d encourage you to do so. And if you do visit, make sure to stop in and say hello to your friends at Tuscano!

We concluded the weekend with a formal dinner Saturday evening, and everyone traveled home on Sunday. It was quite a celebration, and I was sad to see it end, but we’re already planning next year’s event!

We talk a lot about our story and our legacy, and this weekend had me reflecting on where we come from. Our founder, Bill Tuscano, liked to say, “We work hard, and we play hard.” My grandfather was one of the most hard-working people I’ve ever met, but he also loved to spend time with his employees outside of the office because he cared about them personally, and he wanted them to know that. Rob and Jinny have built upon that legacy and refined it, and at this point, we throw a heck of a good party!

One of my favorite things about this weekend was watching everyone interact and seeing how much fun they had with each other. We’ve built a culture where people enjoy spending the weekend with each other, and it doesn’t just happen once a year at the Tuscano Summit. They care about one another and support each other, as I’m sure you’ve experienced if you’ve ever dealt with someone’s back-up when they were out of the office. I’m very proud of the team that we have, they’re our greatest asset, and we owe all our success to them. I’m honored to work alongside them and was happy to be able to show them some appreciation over the weekend. Next time you’re talking to your favorite Tuscano employee, ask them for their favorite memory from the Summit!

This month, we’re promoting non-profit organizations. Do you have non-profit clients, or do you perhaps sit on the board of one of these worthy organizations? If so, the experts at Tuscano can help! We can cover their premises liability, and professional liability of their Directors & Officers, as well as write special event policies to cover their fundraising activities. Please give one of our fast & and friendly underwriters a call to discuss how we can help!

As always, I’d love to hear how we’re doing. Please call or drop me a line to let me know!
