May 16th, 2022

Back in November, we took a family vacation to Sedona, AZ. Sedona is an amazing place. The scenery is mind-blowing, with red rock bluffs and mesas stretching as far as the eye can see. It’s a mecca for hiking and mountain biking, which was the draw for me. It’s a little bit “new age-y,” the kind of place where you can take your crystals to have them re-charged in an energy vortex or have your aura read at a roadside stand. There’s no denying that it’s a very spiritual place. The indigenous South West tribes all considered its sacred land, as evidenced by the many petroglyphs and ancient ruins. If you ever have the opportunity to visit, I highly recommend it.

We had a wonderful time there but came home to discover that our refrigerator had reached the end of its useful life. This was followed a week later by the failure of our dishwasher. My wife Caitlin took this as a sign that it was time to remodel the kitchen. Our house was built in the 80s, and other than some new appliances, not much had been done to update that space, so it was probably overdue. Caitlin embarked on her design journey, which seemed to involve a lot of Pinteresting, and construction began at the beginning of April.

If you’ve tried to hire a plumber recently, you know that they can pretty much name their own price. Maybe I can convince one of my kids to go to trade school! My brother and I have been doing some of the work ourselves: demolition (that was the fun part), flooring and trim, and painting. I’m starting to realize that I’m much better suited to a desk job! All of this has given me a greater appreciation for the ladies and gentlemen that make their living in the building trades.

When it comes to insuring your contracting clients, please think of the Tuscano Agency first. From small artisans, GCs, energy & environmental contractors, and everything in between, we can cover their liability as well as their tools and trucks! Whether you prefer to self-serve using our online contractors rater or you’d prefer to discuss the risk with a member of our casualty or brokerage team, we’re here to provide you with solutions for your clients.

If all goes according to plan, we should be finished with our construction project in about two weeks and can get back to entertaining our friends and family, which is something we really miss. Memorial Day cookout at our house! Please note that our office will be closed on Monday, May 29th, to celebrate the holiday.

Since Memorial Day is the unofficial start to summer, I have some exciting news to share. The Tuscano Agency is instituting new summer hours. Our office will close at 3:00 every Friday from May 26 to September 1 to show appreciation to the hardest working staff in the insurance industry. You’ll continue to enjoy the same great service that you’re used to. In fact, our team is so happy about this change that they’ll be even more pleasant to deal with (if that’s even possible). And you have my cell number in case you have an emergency after business hours.

As always, I'd love to receive feedback on how we are doing; call or drop me an email.
