Early October! This is my favorite time of the year. I get my choice of Major League Baseball playoffs, pro and college football, AND the start of hockey season. All I need now is for the weather to turn bad so I have a reason to stay in front of the TV.
This is the time of the year when I hear my friends talking about their fantasy football league. I get why people are into it, but I have enough stress in my life just following the Steelers. Besides, you have to agree with me that fantasy football is a little like Pokémon Go for adults – apps, stats, and trades! One dream team I can and do get excited about is the great team of folks we have working here at Tuscano. Of course, there is no shortage of great people all over the insurance industry.
Last week our Lloyd’s underwriter who has been the lead on our binding authority contract for many years came to Greensburg on her farewell retirement tour. We opened several bottles of truly great wine and had a lovely dinner with her and few others from the Lloyd’s market. It reminded me of how many interesting and wonderful people I’ve been privileged to know and work with throughout my career. It amazes me how varied our backgrounds are and how few of us ever thought we’d make insurance our lifelong vocation.
How did you get into insurance? By now you all know I was the SOB (son of boss), plus it seemed like an easy job. I don’t think anyone in my office would say that today – it’s not an easy job, but we still have fun doing it. I am very thankful for the incredibly balanced group of people we have at Tuscano. We have some wise and mature, some experienced and stable, and some that are fresh and excited. It really is very inspiring to see the interactions throughout the organization.
You know how long we’ve been writing truck insurance? At least as long as I’ve been here and I’m almost as old as dirt. All I can say is, boy has the market changed. Commercial auto results industry-wide have been disappointing over the last 5 years (really longer) but companies keep trying to find ways to make this a profitable class of business. As the market gets harder, they continue to compete for business well below the walking away price.
But a truck is still a truck and a driver is still a driver and we have the markets and the people that will get them coverage. Whether you are placing a true long-haul account or a local dump truck we have markets that will consider your risk. You should definitely check out our Commercial Auto product page to determine what our writing capabilities are in your state. At the end of the day, there are only a handful of major insurance company players in the trucking space. If you’re going to broker a truck account, why not use Tuscano where our people have the expertise and they treat you right?
Don’t forget us for your property-driven accounts either. We can write in all 21 states we’re in, up to the water and most classes of risk.
The Tuscano dream team is at your service!
