News and Views: Spring Cleaning

Spring cleaning took on a whole new meaning for me recently. I decided that we should refinish the hardwood floors in our house, some of which were laid 25 years, 2 kids, and 4 dogs ago. I thought I knew what I was getting into, but in classic man-style underestimated how big of a job it was going to be. Did I mention all of the floors in our home are hardwood?

Around this time last year, our resources were stretched to their limits, as the Tuscano team worked hard to calm people’s fears and answer their questions about lowering exposures, how business interruption coverage works, and the options they had for paying their premiums. We logged hours of overtime taking care of our policyholders even as new business fell to a trickle. It was a daunting task, but we maintained our service promises which I believe people remember long after the storm blows over. It does look like the skies are clearing! If the last 2 months of new business submissions are any indication, I’d say that the economy is heading in the right direction. Thanks for your business and for the affirmation that Tuscano is your go-to broker.

I know I have said this before, and I need to remind myself of this every other week. I should have listened to my wife Terri. She is always right! Once you are in over your head contact the professionals, and contract the work. Do you know Tuscano loves writing artisan contractors – just like the guys that are going to come to refinish my floors! It’s great to see these small businesses coming back strong. Our new business submissions are coming in fast and furious; and Jamie, Jeanette, Alicia, and Nikki turn them around just as quickly as they come in. Whether you have a roofing contractor, a carpenter, or a handyman, we have coverage and pricing options with our carriers. Give us a call and our team will help you place coverage to satisfy your customer. Today they may be a one-person shop, tomorrow they may grow into one of your best accounts.

On a quick side note, I was telling our staff the story about how Dad (Bill Tuscano) got his first motorcycle. It was a Honda 450cc bike that was salvaged from a vandalism claim. He brought it home and kept it in the basement for months so my mom could get used to him ‘owning a motorcycle’. I loved riding with my dad. He and I took some amazing trips on two wheels. When we first started riding, motorcycle insurance was one of the biggest lines of business we wrote! We’re still writing motorcycles and I’m still riding my motorcycle. So never wonder if you should give us a call to place your recreational sports business – yes we can and we love it!

Don’t forget brokering with Tuscano comes with benefits! We offer many self-service reports and policy tools online. You can sign up to receive your monthly expiration report, issue certificates, or pay your statement. Just visit the Tuscano Toolbox where access to your customer tools begins.
