I’ve read a couple of articles recently about the Science of Happiness and one thing that resonated with me is that experiences can create more lasting happiness than things. The article stated that an experience such as travel, or even a hike in the woods on a beautiful day, can leave you feeling happier for longer than say the feeling you would get from buying a new pair of shoes. Even though the shoes may be in your closet for years, the memory of your positive experience will be savored far longer.
Teri and I have been doing a bit of savoring ourselves the last few weeks recalling some of the travel and events we experienced over the last year. Those memories have been wonderful to recall and share, especially now, while we are staying at home. And even though the stay at home orders have cramped my normal travel schedule, I am blessed to be at home with my family, my new pup, and in a place that never gets less beautiful to me. I’m even appreciating some of the COVID-19 TV commercials because they reinforce my inner belief in the goodness of people and the sentiment that we’ll get through this together!
The article also taught me that showing kindness, gratitude, and generosity can make me happier! So join me this week and make time for a simple act of kindness!
Here at Tuscano Agency, we’re all doing well. We’ve been socially distancing yet caring for each other. Our team is busier than ever responding to our customer’s needs during the crisis. I do believe that there is a teeny tiny bit of light coming through the end of the tunnel though! Some of our policyholders are getting back to work and that’s good news. The last thing I want to leave you with is an experience you will surely appreciate (and could it be, even savor?) We have built a new Workers’ Compensation online submission app that makes it much faster to identify what is needed for a quote based on the prospect’s operations.
