News & Views: My Corona Puppy

Newsletter – Tuesday, April 28, 2020
Hello again! Yes, I took an intentional hiatus from this newsletter. I know that my inbox has blown up with emails so I figured yours had to be the same and you didn’t need one more ‘COVID 19’ message to add to it. As early as March 15th, I let you know that Tuscano had transitioned to work from home. We are all-hands-on-deck to help you write new business, work with policyholders to keep renewals and of course provide solutions in whatever capacity we can offer.

Now that I had canceled all of my travel and was working from home, what better reason did I need to finally get that puppy I’ve been begging Teri for? Well, on March 22nd we drove to the Lancaster area and we picked up the newest member of the Tuscano family, Esther, our 9-week old Bernedoodle pup. It was love at first sight and maybe it is because I’ve wanted this puppy for so long; or because she is with me all day and night, but she has just slipped right into the rhythm of our life. She and I take lunchtime walks on our property and she stays with me off-leash. If we both want to sleep in our beds, I have to keep her well clear of Teri’s shoes, and she is still learning to tell me when it is time to go out. But, I am sure she’s going to be my BFF. How about you? Anyone else get a ‘corona’ puppy?

Even with a large portion of the economy shut down, we are seeing new ventures popping up especially in the service sectors that are working to meet current needs. We have seen a huge number of janitorial service contractors starting up as well as new cleaning product manufacturers. And don’t forget about those all-important, frontline delivery drivers. From pizza to packages our team can help. Every day, we are seeing our markets respond to the needs of your clients with new products and classes. Don’t hesitate to give a Tuscano underwriter a call to discuss any risk.

Thank goodness for truckers and the Tuscano transportation team! They are glad to help the men and women who are moving all that toilet paper, hand sanitizer, and bread across the country. For this team of underwriters, being professional and helpful is a critical service. They will not waste your time. Your trucking clients rely on you for their insurance coverage and that keeps them on the road. Now more than ever, you should call Tuscano; we won’t spin your wheels, but we will be responsive to you and your client’s needs.

There’s only one thing I’m going to allow myself to complain about right now and that is the weather! Golly, we are lucky to have a solid day of sunshine for every 6 days of rain here in Western PA. That makes me think of flooding and that makes me want to remind you that Tuscano can help you with commercial or personal flood business. Our Private Flood product has saved a lot of people a lot of money, and right now, that’s what people are looking for – savings. We have a fast and easy to use online flood rating tool so check it out or give Nicole Plues or Jessica Waltenbaugh a call.

Finally, I want to say thank you, for all of you, your family members, friends, and neighbors who are on the frontlines helping people. They may be medical professionals, farmworkers, or food bank volunteers, but I believe in and admire the determination and fortitude of the American people. Let’s work together and be mindful that we can and will come out of this together.

Stay safe, we care about you.
