I had a very pleasant conversation over the weekend with a young man from Kenya. He and his wife moved to the United States about a year ago so she could be in a speech pathology graduate program at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Conversing with Davis (my Kenyan acquaintance) was enlightening. I’ve had such a dim view of our country’s attitude and policies towards ‘outsiders’ that I almost felt like I needed to apologize to Davis. But he stopped me before I could. “I don’t look like you, I don’t talk like you, but everyone I have met in the US has been welcoming. You have no idea how grateful we are to be here.” Davis went on to say, “America’s advantage is that they have done so much for the world and given so much to other countries, you have loads of credit you can draw on for years to come.” Wow, that gave me a lot to think about!
Do you ever take inventory of your business’s advantages? Every so often, I will run through the list of key indicators –premium written, profitability, advertising, carriers, technology, the customer experience. When I get to the bottom of the list, I am always reassured, because I know, it’s our people who are Tuscano’s advantage.
Sure, everything is important, but when your team embraces your mission and values, you’ve got the mortar that holds everything in place and allows you to keep on building. Now that I think about it, I guess that’s why America is great!

On April 1, the new and improved American Modern Producer Portal will be available in Pennsylvania. Say goodbye to ModernLINK, and hello AMsuite. Some of you in other states such as Ohio and Virginia have already been using this new portal. (Sorry New York, you are pegged as one of the last states to convert). We’ve been doing everything we can think of to help American Modern sub-producers prepare for this rollout. This is a huge initiative by the company to put rate, quote, bind, issue and pay capabilities into the hands of their appointed sub-producers.
Along those lines, Tuscano has taken steps to help your personal lines staff get up and running on AMsuite as quickly and effectively as possible. We are hosting classroom-style training sessions for your staff here in our Greensburg office as well as our Tuscano-Insurance Markets office in Clarks Summit PA. Look for other Pennsylvania locations in April. In just 1 hour we can have you up and running with AMsuite.
