Communicating With My Contractor
- Wednesday, July 16, 2008

There is a contractor I have been working with over the summer, and he has been a real source of consternation. This is a guy I like – young and talented and he has really good ideas – creative and artistic touches that make it fun to do a project with him. On the other hand, I recently decided he really must be from another planet. For some reason normal communication just doesn’t work with him. No matter what I think I said – he is sure to walk away with a completely different understanding of our discussion. As a result, I have taken extra steps to make sure we are on the same page – I repeat myself, I ask him to repeat what I said – and it works – but still only about 50% of the time.

This has led me to wonder, is the message the Tuscano Agency is sending being received and more importantly, understood?

One way we send our message is through this newsletter. Not being the scholarly communicator, I realize it will take much more than 2 newsletters a month to keep you advised of all the things Tuscano’s has been doing to earn your business. However, my sincere desire is that every time you work with a Tuscano underwriter or hang up the phone after a service call, you experience our message – “Boy! Tuscano’s really wants to write our brokerage business!” Which, in a nutshell, is our message! My goal is to get you thinking – Tuscano’s Can Do it!

So, when that trade contractor, vacant property, or restaurant risk comes your way this week, I hope you think of Tuscano’s first. What will you do with the oddball professional liability risk, EPLI for your bigwig client, or the demolition person that calls for a quote they needed yesterday? Call us of course! If you have an opportunity to do a proposal for a large student housing or senior high-rise, naturally you will think of Tuscano’s Property/Package team. And, instead of shying away from garage or commercial auto accounts, you will call a Tuscano Transportation underwriter because you know they would love to help you write the account. We can do it, and so can you.

For all of the marketing and advertising we do, the best way to get a piece of business written is to pick up the phone and talk to an underwriter. They are great at listening and ever so responsive – unlike my hapless but gifted contractor. Of course, if you just aren’t in the mood for talking, (some days more than others I am sure), you can always check out the Tuscano website for a product guide, online raters, apps, quote status, and so much more!

Thanks for calling Tuscano’s and have a great day!
