Hollenbeck's participate in MS Bike Tour

Community – Thursday, July 5, 2007
The 22nd Annual MS Bike Tour – also known as the Escape to the Lake - was held this year on June 9th & 10th. This was a two-day, one-way cycling adventure that began in Cranberry Twp. and ended 150 miles later on the shores of Lake Erie in Conneaut Ohio after an overnight stay at Allegheny College in Meadville, PA. First time participants were Diane Hollenbeck (from Tuscano’s accounting department) and her husband George, who rode their Rans Screamer tandem recumbent bike. Since they are just recreational riders accustomed to the level trails in western Pa, the hills of the course were a challenge, but they adopted the motto of some of the other 1700 riders - ‘there’s not a hill we can’t walk up!’

The Hollenbecks participated in this event so they could raise money for the fight against Multiple Sclerosis, because they have family and friends with this illness. And they are not alone, because the reality is that every hour of every day someone is diagnosed with MS, more than 400,000 people nationwide live with the devastating effects of MS, and 75% of people with MS are women. While there are many promising treatments for MS, there is still no cure. Diane and George’s prayer is that maybe someday…
