Who Invented I-Day?

Newsletter – Friday, May 1, 2009
Who invented I-Day and where would the insurance industry be without this great regional event? I for one envision an industry that never discovered highlighters, fat pens that glow in the dark, or squishy foam rubber objects. On the other hand, think of how much our office expenses would go up if we did not have our annual extravaganza of insurance company and vendor freebies. Not to mention, how would we outfit our kids for an entire school year without the pens and highlighters we collect that day?

What brings this to mind of course is the recent round of I-Day events that Tuscanos has participated in. It has been great to get out of the office to meet many of our friends in Reading and Central PA as well as our ‘alma mater’, the Pittsburgh I-Day. Jinny and I literally grew up in this business going to the Pittsburgh I-Day. I love bringing a big crew of Tuscano staff to the city to meet customers and see old friends. I also love talking to so many of the producers we work with. It also keeps me mindful of my friendly competitors who are always willing (as am I) to take each other’s business. The amount of business going into the E&S market right now is not expanding, and we really are not so friendly that we want to share!

I say all of this just to reinforce the fact that at the Tuscano Agency we do believe, heart and soul, that Business is Personal and we are constantly working on ways to make that statement operational.

We know that in order to write your trucking business, which we really want to do, we have to come to the table with some great quotes. But if you have ever written a trucking account, you know that the work is just beginning when the account gets bound. That is when you need a team of service-oriented and experienced people making sure your customer’s expectations and needs are met. This is where Tuscanos can guarantee that we are different from our competitors. In everything from making filings, issuing ID cards, and providing online Certificates of Insurance, the Tuscano Transportation Team is the best and the fastest in this business.

In my last letter I talked about our new Workers Comp market. Since then we have seen a great deal of comp apps with all shapes and sizes of risks. We are very excited about this market and know that it will be yet another reason to use Tuscanos for all your brokerage needs. This company particularly loves restaurants and contracting classes and they are very competitive on this business. We are looking for risks with an Experience Mod below 1.5 and premiums under $75,000. Even if your risk does not meet these standards, don’t hesitate to give us a call. We have 3 other excellent markets that make our appetite for workers comp very broad.

Tuscanos has always been known for our excellent markets and service for contractors. Now that we are in the full bloom of spring, you will probably be getting the calls from your local handyman, remodeling contractor, or roofer. We have made writing the Craftsman/Tradesman business extremely easy with our online rating program and the Small Business Unit’s 24-hour service promise. Next time you have a small 1-5 man operation try out our rater and see if it doesn’t really scratch your itch.

Don’t put yourself in the position to say, “I should have called Tuscanos!”
