This past Christmas, Teri and I bought a Wii console for the ‘family’ present. Of course, we were concerned that the kids might spend too much time playing the games and neglect schoolwork or family time. I have to admit that nearly the opposite has happened - Teri and I are now neglecting the kids!
The Wii is truly an amazing interactive gaming system. One of the newest games we purchased is Wii Fit (a sure excuse for us to use the console more). This one comes with a balance board, which is a small platform that you stand on and by shifting your weight; you control the activity on the TV. Sounds simple enough, right? One of the games on the Wii Fit simulates a soccer practice. Your teammate (one of the Wii people) kicks the soccer ball at you and you have to use your head to block the ball. During this time you must stand on the balance board and shift your weight from side to side in order to protect the goal. So imagine if you will, that I am going along – finally getting the hang of the moves and getting pretty good at blocking the balls. Then out of nowhere, a soccer shoe comes flying at my head and knocks my Mii flat on its back. As it turns out, the Wii simulates more than a game, it simulates insurance – just when you think you have the hang of this business the markets throw you a curve – or hits you with a soccer shoe – take your pick.
I do not remember a time in my insurance career when writing business has presented such a challenge to me personally. I am confident that Tuscano’s adds value to your agency’s operations because we are adaptable, responsive, and agile. I am seeing the standard markets writing things they never would have considered in the past: a trucking for hire operation with a regional carrier; a major stock carrier pricing a foreclosed partially vacant property like it was occupied; or a standard company competing on a contractor. I am constantly being surprised.
Through all this, we keep blocking the ball and ducking the shoes! We can do this because we are always listening to you, and we are always looking for ways to respond and act quickly to the things that are important to you. We believe our relationships are the foundations of great business partnerships. Let us know what it is you need to give your customer peace of mind or to keep them satisfied. If you need price, we will do our best to compete. Give us the last look – we know that price will get you the account but service is what keeps it on the books.
I see so much brokerage business go to another wholesaler because you didn’t think Tuscano’s “wrote that”. Or, someone saw an ad for a program and assumed that must be the best market – not true. I know that we don’t hit on every risk we quote, but I am sure that we would surprise you with what we can do. Whether you have a truck account, a roofing contractor, a restaurant, or a day care, we can make you look good to your customer – think of all of us at Tuscano’s as your Wii team!
In the meantime, Spring is coming, so keep us in mind for your cycles, Spring events, sports teams, and more.
