News & Views: The Declaration of Insurance

Any of my friends or co-workers will tell you I love to engage. Connecting with people, having good and interesting conversations, listening, and learning is a joy to me. I think one reason I am motivated this way is that I am surrounded by people who are accomplished, have thoughtful opinions, are curious and well-spoken. I just keep hoping that the more I hang out with them, some of their qualities will rub off on me!

It seems lately that having engaging conversations about politics, economics, or religion is nearly as dangerous as playing with fire, but guess what? I did play with fire when I was a kid (I was caught playing with matches in my older brothers' room for which my mother nearly murdered me). As we approach the anniversary of our country's independence, I'd like to remind everyone that building a nation and preserving the dream of our country can be a messy business. The miracle of Philadelphia in July 1776 was loud, controversial, dangerous, and partisan. This has happened over and over again in our country's history, and as long as we keep the conversation going, our country will stay strong and true. Compromise for a common cause has always been our best virtue. Be engaged - because that's how we preserve our ideals and our freedom.

Speaking of founding fathers, when Bill Tuscano started the W.N. Tuscano Agency (the miracle of Greensburg, PA circa 1970) he was very intentional about being able to meet the brokerage needs of his customers. You could also say that as a start-up, he would do anything he could to write whatever business came his way! That's why today, Tuscano Agency is a full-service broker writing Personal Lines, P&C, Professional Lines, Trucking, and just about any other brokerage product you can think of. We also write more than E&S business. We have great markets writing admitted BOPs, dwellings, garages, and more.

I'm no Thomas Jefferson, but I jotted down my own Declaration of Insurance:

When in the course of insuring your customers, it becomes necessary to use a broker, the laws of business demand that you be treated fairly and be given amazing service and the opportunity to work with exceptional people. Tuscano holds these truths to be self-evident; insuring vacant property, contractors, trucks, habitational risks and hospitality risks is fundamental to what we do. New ventures, accounts with unique exposures, or loss history are treated with equally amazing service. Throw off despotic and oppressive brokerage relationships and declare your right to love your broker!

I may not get to talk with you before the holiday so have a wonderful Independence Day - hopefully, you (and I) will get to make it a long weekend!
