News & Views: Give Thanks in all Things

Newsletter – Wednesday, November 16, 2016

I am thankful for much among the many different aspects of my life. Some of them are personal and relationship-oriented. Some are spiritual and guided by my faith. Others are professional, and in this area of my life, I just can't help feeling like I am one lucky dog!

For instance, not only do I get to work with my family - I wouldn't have it any other way. Jinny is my sounding board; she keeps me checked in and grounded. I have three awesome nephews who enable Jinny and me to focus on the future of this organization and to keep it a family business. I learned this business from my father and I am lucky to have several next-generation Tuscanos to pass my knowledge on to. And most importantly, I have an amazing group of people that I work with every day. They put forth their best and care deeply about how we treat our customers.

I am also fortunate to travel in some pretty lofty circles filled with talented and innovative insurance people. Tuscano belongs to many professional trade associations: AAMGA, NAPSLO, PLUS, and the USA Alliance. Yet, unlike these larger organizations, the USA Alliance is a small association of family-owned and fiercely independent insurance wholesalers that are willing to share ideas and market knowledge and generally push each other to be the best at what we do. It just so happens that I spent last weekend in Scottsdale with the USA Alliance membership. You know how at family gatherings and especially Thanksgiving, that it is a big deal to sit at the grown-up table? Well, sometimes that is how I feel after spending a weekend with these folks!

There are many advantages to working with an independent wholesaler such as Tuscano. One of them is our agility. Our staff is empowered to make decisions and when needed - fix problems. We act like family and we want to treat our customers like friends. Our governance is internal and we are free of the corporate office dictates. This simply means at the end of the day we are free to do what is right. And that is ultimately the most important thing.

We are coming down the home-stretch of 2016! Every department at Tuscano is fully-staffed and people are hard at work underwriting, quoting, binding and issuing your business! Now is a great time to send us your brokerage business. All I'm saying is if you have a risk or risks on your desk, or a renewal coming up that needs to be moved, send it over and we'll jump right on it. Better yet, give one of our underwriters a call to discuss the risk and tell us what you need to help your customer.

Have you checked out our success stories on the web lately? We've created a web page full of examples of risks we've successfully written in all the 21 states we write business in. Once you are there it is pretty simple to click on the 'Who to Call' button to locate the underwriting team and individual underwriters that can help you with your next risk.

Now is the time of the year to be thankful and to say thank you as well. So, Thank You, to each one of you, our customers, family, friends and newsletter readers!

I count you all as blessings,
