News & Views: Pittsburgh I-Day 2016

Newsletter – Thursday, March 31, 2016

I was at the dentist office this morning for a regular checkup and cleaning. When he was finished checking and poking around in my mouth (everything is A-OK) he asked if I'd been experiencing dry mouth. I was a little caught off guard but answered no - no problems there. He asked a few more questions - taking any meds, any medical issues?  Then it hit me - I was probably dehydrated and a little hungover...

Yesterday was the 90th annual Pittsburgh I Day, and the Tuscano Agency has been attending for well over 35 years. I enjoy going to I-Day for many reasons; I see my customers, chat with my competitors, I get to meet young people new to the business, and always get to have a beer or two with some of the folks I grew up with in the insurance business!  Back 'in my day' we were terrors! Of course, Pittsburgh I-Day was notorious for parties and yes, drinking. The old-timers would sit in the bar for 12 hours and the young'uns would jam into the elevators going from floor to floor visiting company hospitality suites. Things aren't quite so wild anymore, but we still managed to laugh a little, catch up with old friends, and yes, hang out in the bar! Thanks to the Insurance Club of Pittsburgh  for hosting a wonderful event and keeping our amazing insurance community young and fun.

Because not everyone gets to work in a great industry like ours, people have to find other ways to have fun.  Spring is here, and the motorcyclists are showing up on the road looking for a little R&R.  Don't forget you can get insurance for all kinds of bikes - 2, 3, and 4 wheels! We write everything from scooters to Can-Am Spyders and everything in between! We also have very competitive programs for classic and antique cars. Quoting both products is easy through our online portals. If you need help getting set up with a login, give our Personal Lines team a call. Be sure and give us a call for any and all your specialty personal lines insurance needs!

Tuscano is your place to go for all types of professional liability, especially after spending a day with several hundred professional insurance agents! Yes, we do write professional liability and there's no good reason to call another broker just for these products. In addition to writing the 'program' business (Architects, Lawyers, Real Estate, etc.) we have some great markets eager to write the non-program or miscellaneous E&O business.  There are many professions out there like interior designers, construction managers, or consultants of all kinds that provide a professional opinion or charge a fee for services. More than likely they have an E&O exposure.  Perhaps they don't provide the service in the time required, or they fail to keep their customer information confidential.  And of course, your customer doesn't have to do anything wrong to wind up in court where the cost of defending allegations can be significant.  Let us help you!  Tuscano is here to help you provide them with coverage options.

After watching my NCAA bracket tank, I am a little nervous about making a baseball prediction - but Let's Go Bucs! All the way in 2016!
