News & Views: What's In Your Fridge?

Newsletter – Wednesday, March 16, 2016

What's growing in your office refrigerator? I am sure that most of you have a communal fridge where everyone can stash their packed lunches, put their leftovers, or keep their breakfast-on-the-go food. At the Tuscano Agency, we have three office refrigerators where we also keep our condiments, coffee additives, the Friday beer supply, and leftovers from the last employee lunch. Which brings me to the issue of cleaning out the fridge - who is brave enough to throw out a coworker's unmarked container of food? Not to mention actually having to root through the darkest recesses and pull out the bags of mystery items.  Office life can be weird, funny, emotional, or traumatic - depending on the type of food left behind.

Science experiments aside, when Bill Tuscano started this business he never intended to establish an empire or make America great again. He was an entrepreneur at heart and he just loved working hard and building something that mattered to him. I'm pretty sure my mom insisted that it also feed and clothe his six kids. Ten years later when I joined this business the number one lesson Bill drilled into my head was, "You work for the business, it doesn't work for you."  That's the touchstone for Jinny and me.  I am hopeful these values will endure with future Tuscano leaders and employees.

Maybe Punxsutawney Phil was right when he said we'd have an early spring. I've certainly enjoyed this amazing spring-like weather! My problem is that it seems too good to be true. As soon as I get used to it, the snow will return! Then again, maybe this is your opportunity to get out ahead of seasonal cycles. With weather like this, many contractors will be getting a jump on their early projects. Keep Tuscano in mind as the wholesaler you should be calling for contractors insurance. We have competitive markets but more importantly, we can deliver on the coverage and policy wordings contractors will inevitably need to bid their summer jobs. Don't get caught working with a wholesaler who can't or won't service your customer.  Our markets can provide blanket Additional Insured, Waiver of Subrogation, and more. When you need specific wording on a certificate of insurance, more than likely Tuscano will be able to deliver! Call your Tuscano Casualty Teamunderwriter to discuss your contractors and manufacturing accounts today!

We are also ready to spring into recreational and specialty personal lines. Nice weather brings out the toys so I expect you will be quoting motorcycles, jet skis, and golf carts before too long. I have good news on that front! Online portals and rating tools provided by our carriers provide you with 24/7 access to servicing your customers. If you need a login or a sub-producer appointment, drop the Personal Lines Team an email and they will help you get what you need.

Dad built more than a business; he laid the foundation for a community of people who are supportive and caring for one another. As you may have heard, Diana Roberts, a wonderful friend and co-worker, passed away unexpectedly last week. Diana was also the sister of Dina Papas who is a senior casualty underwriter here at Tuscano Agency. Diana was exemplary of Tuscano; kind, encouraging, friendly and fun. She joined Tuscano Agency in 2002 as an associate in our accounting department.  Please send your thoughts and prayers to Diana's husband Tommy, Dina and the rest of Diana's family.

This year I am especially thankful for Spring and this season of renewal.
