Happy belated Pi (3.14159265359…) Day. With all of the focus on St. Patrick’s Day festivities last weekend, 03.14.15 might have slipped past me except that I was reminded of this once a century event due to two things: my nephew’s birthday is Pi Day (Yo Christian) and we were invited to a Pi day dinner party where all of the courses had to be ‘pie’.

I’m not a mathematician but I do OK with numbers. Lately I have come to appreciate the fact that there are some pretty incredible numbers out there and some incredibly committed people researching them. I happened across a TED talk recently that was all about the discovery of new prime numbers. There is even a poet who has dedicated his work to prime numbers! It puts being a ‘numbers’ guy in a whole new light.

Pi Day also means we are in the home stretch of winter. I’ve even put away my skis and my snow plow!
